What are you doing into today?
What are you tuning into today?
Our thoughts are connected to information and inputs arriving from outside. What is the nature and quality of these stimuli? What emotions do they evoke in us?
What influences our emotions has a dual effect: it affects us and influences the mood of those around us. We can all recognize whether a close person is sad, happy, angry, or calm. There may be good reasons for feeling a certain way, if they involve personal or family situations, but not if they involve events external to our lives.
Older people almost all agree that life was tough in their day, but there was more peace and tranquility. Why? One reason could be the infinitely less stimuli they received. Some studies suggest that we today consume the same amount of news in a single day that our grandparents did in an entire year. Disasters, wars, pandemics, terrorism, economic crises, and so on. Added to this is the need to keep up with others, including fashion, lifestyle, and so on. The result? A world where stress and hyperstress afflict everyone, including children.
So what should we do? Live in a bubble? No, but limiting stimuli could be a good idea for a better, more peaceful, and serene life. It's important to remember that our mood not only influences our emotional well-being, but also that of the people we love. Mood is believed to have a significant impact on health. Should we aim for greater serenity or continue to let tension wear us down?
