Are these real?

 Are these idols real?

What are the objects of worship today? Today's idols blur the lines between things and people. Some jealously cherish their children, their cars, their soccer, their smartphones, their dogs, themselves, their political parties, their singers, and, as we all see, even those who idolize war. A profound love for everything that seems meaningful to one's feelings, but one should examine whether these feelings are healthy and genuine, or false and ideological.

What remains of the idols of the past, such as Ancient Rome or Ancient Egypt? Certainly the remnants of an ostentatious display of grandeur, but they remain as such, even if they still stand, with no development and no living soul around.

You know the slow, calm tortoise, it's still around; it's estimated that it's been on Earth for over 250 million years. Yet no one has made an idol of it; in fact, its name is used in a negative way to refer to slow, calm people.

Nothing is an idol on this Earth except the value we bring as individuals to its preservation and to building trust among the people who inhabit it.
Are the problem the greedy rich who want it all?
No, the problem is the common people, who comprise almost the entire population, who make idols of these individuals. Everyone pays attention to those who show off, but no one thinks and says: who is that idiot who wants to be noticed for what he has rather than for who he is, that is, an idiot?

Remember the quote from the great Milanese artist and designer Bruno Munari?
Here it is: "Luxury is a necessity for many people who want to feel like they dominate others. But other people, if they are civilized, know that luxury is a sham. If they are ignorant, they will admire and perhaps envy those who live in luxury, but who cares about the admiration of the ignorant? Perhaps the stupid . "

Luxury is therefore an idol, an illusion used by those who lack human and cultural substance.

It makes you think, doesn't it?
