Even just one thing
Our attention is increasingly turned outside ourselves, caught up in the whirlwind of input and news bombarding us from every direction. This leads us to feel perpetually dissatisfied, and this is caused by focusing on what's missing, rather than what's present.
We always have something to fix, buy, solve, achieve; so we lose sight of what already works, what we already have, what we've already achieved.
In the chaos of our current lives, we even forget about people—the people we meet on the street, and even those we live with and love.
So here's a small, simple method to get back in touch.
Buy a small notebook, put it on your bedside table, and every night before going to sleep, write down the things you appreciated about the day, all the moments that brought you joy.
It could be your morning coffee, a detail at work, something you saw and appreciated, or moments spent with loved ones and/or friends.
Write down at least three things you liked about the day.
In the morning, as soon as you wake up, pick up your notebook and read about everything you liked about the last three or four days.
Even if you write down just one good thing, if you focus on it, you'll see it brightly, rather than darkly, confusedly, and chaotically.
This practice will activate gratitude in you, and guess what? Gratitude fosters happiness, and happiness, in turn, will increase your confidence and your potential for success in everything you do.
Try it and see.
